Google Ads New Location Policy - Making Sense of the Changes

Google is shaking things up with their latest policy update, and it's time to get in the know! Starting December 20, 2023, Google will begin enforcing the Location asset requirements policy changes over a period of about 8 weeks.

What’s Changing?

This update focuses on what types of location assets will not be permitted on Google Ads. All relevant policies will be strictly applied to your location assets. This means that any locations that are closed, unrecognized by Google, or don't match the business running the ad (excluding affiliate locations) will be off-limits as Location assets. Additionally, assets with products or services that don't align with the specified location will also face restrictions. For the nitty-gritty details, be sure to review the Location asset requirements policy come December 20, 2023.

How Will Enforcement Work?

If Google detects that your location asset doesn’t meet these updated policies, it will receive a “Disapproved” status. Unfortunately, disapproved location assets won't be eligible for use in your ad campaigns. However, if you believe there's been a mistake, you'll have the opportunity to appeal the decision. Just follow the provided instructions in the Google Ads UI.

Don't get caught off guard by these changes—stay ahead of the curve and ensure your location assets are in compliance with the new policy. It's time to rock your online presence with confidence!
